The stock ones are best all around, if you want better in certian areas your more then likely going to give up something else to get it, deeper lugs are great for mud and softer soils, but you give up hard pack performance and the deeper the lug, the more small rocks that will get stuck in the threads at slower speeds and when you go faster they fly out and hit your machine, damage paint etc. Shallow lugs means worse performance in the sand, mud and soft soil. Then of course, tire width, compound of the rubber, size, thread design, etc. . All impact performance. My advice would be search for a set of tires that look to you like they are good for what you want to do, then ask others if they have experience with that tire in a similar type of terrian you plan on riding in. What works good for BOB in Washington might not work so well for STEVE in Arizona.

I have the stock big horns and they are great for sand, and desert type terrian. I'm an aggressive driver and I would prefer a stiffer sidewall with slightly deeper lugs for gravel roads and mountain trails. But the big horns are acceptable until they wear out then I would purchase more terrian specific tires

EPL had some nice tires on his XP1000 when we meet at Ocotillo Wells. I think they were the Motto Crawler from Polaris.
