Do they make you chain up over 44? I've driven over to Reno a couple times in the snow, and never chained up, same with going up to Mt Shasta, seems like they would just close I5 when they get enough...

I've been out in mine in the mid 20* I stayed warm enough, but I wouldn't pull over the summit in the middle of winter, but April would be fine.
