I think its the other way around. Larger diameter tires have less revs per mile, so indicating less miles traveled on the odometer. With same engine RPM, the larger diameter tires will result in more speed (as seen on a GPS).

On my stock xp1000 I clocked 93.7 miles and my GPS clocked 93.6.
I didn't go on this ride, but I did go on a pre-ride a few weeks earlier. Here is the video of the Virginia City portion. Enjoy!
