That's a pretty good deal for a dual bander. Looks like it actually rolled off the Yaesu line....... The thing I worry about most with suggesting these radios is that pushing one button could make it inoperable for an end user who didn't take the time to learn it's functions. While the commercial stuff is expensive, they can be made idiot proof so there is no way things could go off track...No insults intended!

I hear ya. They would have to know how to program it. This sells for around $225.

Personally I would hate to see full blown mobile ham radios getting into uneducated end-user hands. With those extra bands vs. the simple 151-155 mhz Rugged Radio programmed channels comes a lot of responsibility one must be in the know about.

I hear ya Lance! We have been having issues locally over the past 4-5 years since the Chinese handhelds hit the market. People just don't understand that this little toy "Walkie Talkie" can cause major communication problems if used improperly.

The freqs Rugged comes programmed with are problem enough. As more people buy/use these pre-programmed off road radios, the FCC will move their illegal use to the top of the list. Mark my words......It will be an expensive mistake for the end user.

I agree 100%, I'm looking at this set up for our buggy. I don't have to do any mods to it.

We have to appreciate the bureaucracy these companies must have had to go thru to sell 50 watt VHF radios to the unlicensed end consumer. Thank you Rugged and others for fighting the FCC years ago for this privilege....hope it wasn't too bloody of a battle....lol!

No privilege gained at all. They can sell you the equipment, but you get the fine for using it illegally........Kind of like a gun?
