I agree (well on everything you said except for the part about you not breaking down...that wasn't your rig we were working on, was it Ed?). Radios are not to take the place of the two-rule Rider Etiquette. Ever. But having said that, it's nice to be able to problem solve instantly. Having that kind of communication between the ride leader, the last person in the group and perhaps even one in the middle would be extremely helpful on future rides. We are wiling to make that happen in order for the rides to be more cohesive and enjoyable for everyone. That's what this is all about.
