    More fire hazard recalls

    If the exhaust silencer fatigues and cracks, the heat shield may not manage heat, which may lead to melting of nearby components or fire.

    I checked mine and it doesn't have a recall !!

    Mine is in the list. With this being a heat shield behind the muffler, which we all know is right behind the intake/injection/fuel lines area I sorta wonder if this might be a contributing factor to the fires that have been reported. I say contributing because we know some of them were due to people carrying extra fuel in the cargo area, but a lot were not.

    I also wonder if they shouldn't be replacing the muffler too, but who knows. As I said elsewhere I will buy the part and do the fix myself, and probably put an aftermarket slip on muffler on at the same time.

    I got a phone call from polaris last week about a recall . I had new heat shield installed back in may I'll have to check my vin # again.

    I think they are changing the heat shield again !! I got the same call for the one on my XP 1000 !!

    Called the dealer and they said it was the same one as April and Polaris has a problem with who has and hasn't had it done.
    Check with your dealer for your recall record.

    I checked and was told mine was done !!
