So it's still on at cold springs? Who is going to be leading the rides? I can make some gps tracks , looks like a lot of good riding, still open to everyone's ideas.

I have some saved tracks from last year out of there on GAIA gps that I would be glad to send you Mike... pm me your ph# or email and ill go over how it works.
As for dry camping in that area there are many places other than cold springs parking lot. IMO the only point of interest destination from there is the http://parks.nv.gov/parks/berlin-ichthyosaur and a few canyon trials. The distance from there to the trails out of Austin is a few hours drive each way with lots of open road but one could gas up in Austin. For that reason ideally a day ride out of cold springs and then move to the Austin area for a couple of days or do the B&B and tent off our rigs in Kingston even. Im still on the fence for doing just that and still making this just waiting to see if my friend can get the extra time off.
Id be in for Austin!

I with Barry on this one too, would still like to go somewhere, I can dry camp just fine, think if we still stay with the same dates we should choose a different location, never road out of Lovelock, is there good riding, and camping there? Or Pyramid Lake area, I've heard is good riding,
We are good for going anywhere as long as it is the same dates. We have a room at cold springs, but we can take the toy hauler and dry camp somewhere else!

so.. lets chime in on our options...
Coldsprings has water, dump, restaurant, useable showers for those who need it. the point of interest is the Berlin park. I will call and see if and when its open to view. it was closed before
Austin has 3 small rv parks side of hi way with hook ups that sound inexpensive. The Austin rv and the Baptist church rv is next to each other but would need to call on there vacancy. there is restaurants, bars, gas, store. there. Not the Hilton but would work. Points of interest: Stokes castle, Toquima Cave, Kingston bar, Spenser hot springs, Diana's punch Bowl (kinda a drive but what isn't), Hickerson suit petroglyph to the east and the Famous Belmont court house far south(this is serious long ride but doable)... not possible to hit all of these in one day but its out there.
So what do you guys think about going to Boca Rest ? No reservations needed in October, dry camping, but does have tables and fire pits, plenty of trails to explore in the Sierra's, can ride all the way to Border town for lunch, and out in the desert, also some good forest riding. Just putting it out there for discussion it's a lot closer, and lake should still be pretty good.
