The greenies have gotten their tentacles into this area and it was actually amusing this morning to see the difference between CA and Arizona.
We watched from camp this morning and just across the river in Arizona about 1/4 mile there was a helicopter that was driving wild pigs towards the river which was an obvious dead end. There was a thinning of the wild pig population going on and there was intense shooting going on over there. It lasted about an hour. I don't know if they were shooting from the helicopter of just driving them to hunters on the ground but there were many rounds going off in bursts. The helicopter worked the area at about 100 feet AGL or less the entire time.
Fast forward to our ride on the CA side... Having been respectful of coming up on a Wilderness area and turning back we stumbled on to a dirt road in an open area with orange cones and tape making it look like a cop show on TV. There was a water company pickup waiting at the signs near the cones and crime scene tape in the middle of nowhere just sitting and waiting like an obedient subject. The sign said to wait for "Tortoise training and an escort." No kidding!
Again, it's a good time being here, a nice camping experience, and good riding. Freedom is 30 miles down the road though and our group was noticing it today. Like I said..... It's worth the extra 30 miles. With that said I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's ride.
