I am wondering the same. From all my reading, the 30x11x13 skats are the best choice, but STU 28's are a close 2nd.
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some skats.

All depends what dunes you plan on running the most..Sand in Oregon is completely different then the Sand in CA and the Sand in Idaho is different The paddles that work the best in glamis my not be the best for the Oregon Dunes..JMO...My STU'S work completely different from Oregon to Glamis to Idaho St. Anthony

The main factor to consider, in my opinion, with the above statement is paddle count. Skats by far are lighter and provide less rotating mass. With the correct paddle count for the correct riding area as stated above, they are superior. I have run STU's, Sand Strippers, and now have the 30x13x14 9-paddle Skats. This is an Oregon setup, or I would have went with 8-paddle. :-)
