Look at this dyno overlay of the Rzr 1k vs the YXZ 1000R.
I'm shocked how the power is put to the ground!!
Stock RZR 1000 in blue of course:)

So what would be a better curve ? They both get to the same place. I guess the Yamaha just gets there quicker? I suck a charts.

Power curve should look like a plateau. You want it to climb fast and make peak HP for the entire rpm range similar to the Rzr. What you don't want is a ^ because it takes a lot longer to make peak power and when it finally gets there it's already starting to decline.

Did he do the test in 5th gear?
If so that is why it took longer to get there

To me a manu Tranny would put more power to the ground than CV Tranny
On that chart yammy started off at 15 mph that why I think they had it in 5th gear all the way

That makes sends Leo, the manual with the right gearing, will be awesome IMO , I think Yamaha will come out with some type of paddle shift/auto mode, kind of like Honda.
Time will tell.

They were saying the doing there resting in 3rd or 4th I can remember exactly. They wanted to be as close to the 1-1 ratio. I believe it was 4th and 5th are overdrive.

You mean they started run the car in 3rd or 4th gear on beginning of the test ??

Actually I'm not sure it's hard to figure out what there saying. After looking again that is a 5th gear pull like Leo said I beleive. They have a few dyno sheets up now. Here is a 4th and the gear pull. I guess you ignore the beginning of the pull until late you are in the peak rpm's for the gear selected.

Typically they will run through the gears slowly till they reach the gear that is closest to 1:1 ratio then stand on it till redline. Reason for this is because any ratio lower will multiply the power output due to gearing. That why direct 1:1 is optimum

The run through the gears was with a slip on too so it was making a little more then stock.

only way to see is get both out on the sand and do a long race with 2 drivers and swap them out. see how they work in the real worl... but the hp loss is more than yamaha was saying time will tell. i just would hate to tear into that trany in the dunes to do a clutch swap. all i know is that yamaha sounds the best to be so far like sound realy maters....lol

Maybe if stock power is good enough. You and I both know that trans will never hold 300+ hp like the Polaris gearbox will :)
