UTVs - Utility to Sport/Utility

Another thread discussion got me thinking about this and I have always wondered why.

Back in the 80s we had the 3 wheeled UTV.... in the early 90s we had the 4 wheel Utility SxSs doing construction and farm work....you remember the John Deeres and Kubotas of the day that are still so popular. In 2004, the Sport/Utility was first born. Why did it take so long to release it from the early 90s for personal enjoyment? Did development take that long? Governmental red tape? Political groups, such as the Greenies? Whaddya think?

The way I see it and can parallel it with something-else that has grown a-lot

Is Snow-Boarding, we snow-skied, did sledding and the likes when I was youngen

Than some kid thought of snow boarding, have no idea way it took so long

We had surfing, skate-boarding, mud-boarding, but No snow-boarding

SxSs and Snow-Boarding just took a-long time to catch on

How-ever when they did it caught on like fire
