What is everyone's thoughts on breaking in the belt.
We do 3 heat cycles or I should say we try and do 3 heat cycles
Run it fairly hard get the belt temperature up and the let it cool down

What is everyone else thoughts?

I agree Josh...when I blew my belt at SM on the way to Middlegate ..we had the hammer down and that belt lasted another 2 years till we were at SM again on our way back from Cold Springs Station and blew another belt...had to be trailered back to camp this time... Lance was impressed on where the belt ended up...lol...hopefully SM will be better to me this year...:)

I'm impressed with the latest development of belt heat monitoring. First generation measures the CVT air temp....now there is a gauge that infrareds the actual belt temperature. I have this great hunch that company will be a vendor on here soon...lol

Sad to say even with my temp gauge I hammer down from day one..the gauge let's me know when it's to late..

I think it more critical when running in the sand for Belt breakin...sand and mud is so much harsher on belts then the desert or rocks..even though broke both belts in the desert I think the majority of the damage had been done earlier in the sand

I learned the hard way that you need to break in the belts. I have broke 2 because I didn't break them in .

I used to worry about breaking them in but found out no matter how much you break it in, if you get it hot, it's gonna fry. I just carry a spare and worry about having fun instead.

I broke my new belt in at UTV Invasion utilizing the real time information provided by my new Razorback Technology Infrared belt temp gauge. Wanted to do it right since we are heading to Mackay ID and St. Anthony next week. Heat cycled it up to 145 deg. for the first 20 miles. Waited 30 miles before going for higher temps and full throttle runs.

I haven't broke a belt yet, but sometimes when going slow technical I can smell the belt getting hot, or smoking. In the 1500 miles on my machine I've takin the cover off and blew out all the dust in there three times, and every time it's been packed with dust.
