How big is tour toy hauler? It's a steep grade and very tight at times. If your not to big I know of a few places we can put your trailer.

Turn off is Castle Crags you can't miss it. There will be a chevron on your left. From I5 towing up its 22miles to the top. Roseberg has been kicking ppl out of the good camping spots because they are on there land. I know of a good place tho to put your trailer.

Haha I lived in Dunsmuir for years. So it's fair to say that whole area was my back yard :) sometimes I was up at Tamarak every night fishing and wheelin. It's not like there is much else to do in Dunsmuir lol

That's not bad I take my 30' up. My super duty on 38's hated the grade. So when the tranny temps would get to hot I would put it in low range. In fact a lot of my friends still use low to tow up. Anymore tho everyone is in rzr's and they are not near as heavy as a 5,000lb rock crawler :)

I'm hoping to come up Friday night and either stay in the State Park (hookups, or dry camp?) or maybe in Dunsmuir (anyone know any RV parks?). Ride Castle Crags Saturday, camp Saturday night, ride the volcano Sunday and come home either Sunday night or Monday morning.

Not to many. The trails are somewhat complex and slow going. I would guess 50 or so....

So the exit is Castella. You can't camp at the top just anywhere because Roseburg or SP will run you out. They patroll on random weekends and sadly the will ask you to leave. You are welcome to ride with us to the top, no big deal

Full hook ups..They have about 5 spots available for our weekend. That may b my choice as we get closer to the ride.

Close meaning close to the staging area, or close meaning handling 35'? I have a 26' bumper pull (30' overall) and I was planning to camp in the Castle Crags State Park on Friday night. My understanding was that they have RV sites with hookups. My RZR goes on the truck, so I don't have to take the trailer up to the staging area Saturday AM. Then I'll move up to the volcano staging area to camp Saturday night for the Sunday ride. Does my plan seem OK, and would anyone bet whether I need a reservation for Friday?

I can take you to a "free" spot up top that you can park your trailer. It's right on the way to one of the lakes. It's up to you as it is about 5-6 miles of dirt road. I tow my trailer there all the time if that means anything to ya

Mt. Shasta = 15 miles north on I5 population a lot bigger than Dunsmuir lol

Rail road park resort is a great place to stay. It's on I5 for easy access and has great food that you enjoy in a cool rail car!!

We always meet at Ammirati's in Castella (chevron). There is a huge dirt parking lot around back, try to file in off to the side closest to the freeway.

I'm fine with meeting there at 8:30am

Ammirati's has food, ice, beer and gas I case you guys forget something.

Yes Sir. The permit would probably be required most anywhere for that many.. A lot of times when the rides get too big, they could get unmanagable, but this one looks like it will be awesome sized! I hope the lead, tail and a couple thru the middle are radio equipped in case of the lurking breakdown that sometimes plague our rides.

This ride looks Crazy, wished I lived closer guys! Would love to meet up with some of you sometime. Agreed on the radio idea as you can pick up a 5 watt handheld from Ebay for under $30 and they work just fine. I look at my radio just like my roll cage and harnesses....it's there if I ever need it.
