Damn it’s burning into the OHV area too, hope they stoped it from jumping the I-5. Scary up there be safe all.

I have been working almost nonstop since Wednesday. We had 3 towers collapse during the fire tornado up off quartz hill plus lots of conductor on the ground. It's real good news because this morning they were trying to stop it a Dog creek which is where we make the right turn to go to trinity at the beg intersection we all ways stop at on our why to trinity !!
The scary thing is that if we didn't get the fire on my rzr out this is what would have happened !!

I saw a picture of the Giant Orange off the I5 with big fire flames behind it, it’s got to be a horrible thing to see in person, hopefully cooler weather this week will let them get a good handle on it. [emoji1374]

Like Oregon , California has mismanaged their forests for far too long. So sorry for all who have lost everthing.
For those of you that know Chappie at all it looks like the fire is burning the area called the "top of the world" at this time !!
Looks like " Hang Gliders" is burned also !!

What have you heard about the mine you can see going up 4
I heard it went through that area also.
Yesterday at work I had a couple that had been evacuated so they decided to come up this way and stay for awhile

Yes it went through that area !! We were going to come up that way for a couple of days to get out of the smoke i'll let you know if we do !!

Do you think it burned as far as Cow mountain?
Also I was wondering if they fixed trail 1 so they could access it if needed.

As of this time it doesn't look like it has gone that far North. From what I have been told it's going to be years before #1 was to get fixed , now with the fire I'm sure it will be longer !!
Here is another picture where you can see some of the main spots we would know and where the fire is from them !!

From what i can tell at this time it doesn't look like it got 12 or 15 and maybe just the top of 4 . But that doesn't mean that they haven't destroyed those trails with the tractors fighting the fire !!

Yeah that’s what I was thinking to, after the 2008 fire up there, the OHV looked really different for a long time, hopefully this time won’t be as bad.

It shouldn't be as bad this time because it didn't burn down to the lake , it stayed more to the West so far !!

Were still not to bad at this time , BUT the wind has changed and things are changing !! Our friends that have all there stuff at our house were able to go back to there house and they just called and asked if they could bring there trailer back over to our house ?? I guess it's not over till it's over !!
The latest map doesn't look good for Chappie !! Looks like down by 27 , 53 etc is toast !!
At the rate the fires is going all of Chappie will be burned!!

Fire crews are working on Dog creek and there are supposed to be over 500 fire fighters in lake head helping to keep it from burning into lake head.we have friends that lives on dog creek and she said a it’s like freeway of fire crews

That’s what I was thinking too, they will probably shut it all down for awhile like they did last time, we were lucky Sky was up there and fixed, repaired, and made new trails, hopefully that will happen again.

Looking at the Carr fire activity map this morning it appears we won't have to worry about doing any trail trimming of the back side of Cow mountain for a while !!

I guess from looking at these pictures and from what I get from the Cal Fire update this morning they for the most part are going to let Chappie and all of the area we ride thru on the South side of Dog Creek on our way to Trinity burn !! The outer black line is the containment line and from what it seems is there letting the inner section burn it's self out !!

Well looks like it’s going to burn Rattlesnake too [emoji853] that trail may never be like it was before. Bummer cause that trail was getting to be one of the best for SXS.

From what the maps , update's and what I see from the lake most of Chappie will be gone !! If you look up " carr fire activity map" on the internet you can see the fires outline and where it is burning !!

.Same with the Mendocino fires..Lots of OHV trails are lost and they are just letting it burn.. between Carr & Holt fire I think it's somewhere close to 600,000 acres in northern CA.

Notice that most of the fires burning are on Government Land in the west..
Government owns very little land in the east.
Most of the OHV areas in the east are on private land

Just was on the news this morning that they are setting a fire to burn up the brush in what is left of the North part of Chappie area to stop the fire from coming back to the dam !!

Is that straight up from the lookout on trail #1. There use to be a trail that went down there before that we used to ride quads on, but they close it years ago.

Looks like were going to be starting all over at Chappie !!
The campground looks like it's still there but most of Chappie is burned !! It's worse than this map shows because from the lake there is much more burned to the lake.

I just found out that there not going to be letting anyone access the dam at all . They got approved to raise the dam not sure if this is true or not .

Well the last time it burned there in 08 or 09 they close it for like a year to rebuild and replant trees , I’m sure it’s going to be at least that long again.
They have been talking about raising the Dam for years, really don’t think that will happen again time soon.

Your right Mike I think it was closed for close to a year . As for the dam they have been talking about it since 1980 and every once in a while they start talking about it and something gets in the way, I know they have been talking about it again in the last year and have heard dates again just like many times before but nothing set it stone !!

Where did you here this from ? I have heard all kinds of dates there are going to start and be done but nothing in stone yet !! I have been to many meetings on the dam raising issue over the last 15 years. If they would have done what I heard at the first meeting I went to the dam would have been done years ago !!

Well once all this fire stuff is out and it’s winter I’m sure we could access from Iron Mountain rd, or French Gulch side, but it did burn both those areas too, going to be interesting to see what happens.

We should be able to get in from both of those ways as long as they open it back up !! We can go to dog creek and come in the back way !!

I think that is because they are suppose to be putting the construction up for bid in Dec 2019 and want to start by Dec 2020 and think it will take 5 years to do !! The problem is that there is other this they have to solve before they can build !! time will tell

From what I have they for the most part have stopping the carr fire just need to make sure all the hot spots or gone, probably not going to be completely done till we get some rain. You can see in this picture most of Chappie is burned, I wouldn't think they would let us out there till at least spring.
