Winnemucca Dunes 11-9/11-12

We will be going to Winnemucca Dunes over Veterans weekend. We have never been so really don’t know what to expect. I’ve read it’s about 30-40 miles long of dunes( I’m sure with a lot of desert mixed in) no dune taller then 100feet.
If anyone would like to join for the weekend or just make it a day trip we are heading up Thursday and leaving Sunday.

Yeah, I’ve heard good and bad about it but just want to check it out. I will post up after with some pictures if I take any and let everyone know how it was

We stopped by on our way back from Utah and checked out some camping spots for a future trip off of sand pass rd.
Check out Sand Addicted on FB. They have lots of Winnemucca sxs pictures and videos and are very knowledgeable with that area.

5th wheels are great to tow , for the most part you don't even know you are towing a trailer !!

Found the windmill yesterday and the only wildlife out here we’ve seen.

So how were the dunes ??

They are fun, they are Dunes you have to be really be watching where you go. Some go straight to the ridge and have a straight drop off the back and others are rounded off like sand mountain. It’s awesome out here though, went out for about 3 hours yesterday and about 2.5 hours today and still didn’t hit all the dunes, every time we went out we ended up going a different way. We will be coming back

The windmill was 17 miles of sand from our camp and all you could see past it was more dunes that seemed to go on and on

It's just a hoop , skip and jump from you !!Yep for sure, I think this is the place to go on big weekend's, Halloween at Sand Mountain is becoming a joke, there Are so many idiots that feel the need to fly up-and-down the roads where we camp not to mention the morons out in the dunes that pay no attention to where they're going,, I can't believe how many times I was almost hit[emoji107]

I would have to agree with you it was out of control at Sand Mountain this year !! It was just as bad on Sunday there was still a ton of people there !!
