I would like to get a ride together for a Mammoth Mt area campout and ride... anyone been and advise on places to stay and ride?
I am considering a stay at either mammoth mt rv park but not sure about getting across the street? Shady rest rv with hookups or June lake OH campground with out. I checked reservations are fairly booked in this area until late Aug or Sept.

good! found a first come first serv great campground called the 'NEW Shady rest campground! I can go early and get spots when the time comes.... they even have several group campgrounds for between 15 to 30 rigs runs $49 to $99... looks like there all in a wooded area with fire rings, tables, bear lockers, flush toilets, and available water and dump. no electric.
the rest of the sites are around 35' to 40' $20 trail head accessible .
I plan to drive out and ck out the area mid July. the FS does take on line res for the "old shady rest" next to this one and hold back a few for walk in... it is booked till late August.
the riding looks great with snow on the hills.
I'm good to go any time so call it when you want to go!

Me too! I know the June Lake area is spectacular, and I would happily camp there with or without hookups.

I'm planning on scouting this out and try to schedule something perhaps August or even late fall. the elevation is around 7k so should be cool.
