Ok got a question for those that have slides do you have the toppers/awnings over the slide outs..
I have seen pros & cons on both sides
We have been in some good winds in the desert when we take off and go for a ride come back camp has been disrupted because of the wind
I don't have them , see no reason for them. The one thing I friend had them on his motorhome and we were at a place that had a lot of leaves and they got under the little awnings and we played hell getting they out . When he close the pop out the leaves got pushed inside !!

Would never be without ever again.
They provide additional insulation from the sunlight hitting your slide's roof, keep leaves/pine needles from ending up inside when you close up(Assuming the wind doesn't blow sideways), and also is an additional layer of insurance for the possibility of water leaks around the slide wall gaskets especially if snow is piled on top of the slide's roof.....
If you do decide to install them, I would recommend the aluminum shielded ones. 5 years in the Redding heat with 303 applied and our fabric is nearing the end of it's life where the sun contacts them while closed.
5 years in the desert during some of the gnarliest weather and the wind as never been an issue. I fact, I would consider deleting the patio awning if I was ordering new again since it can never be left out in the desert. Too many surprise single gusts of wind have almost ripped ours off and it takes 1-2 mins for it to retract.

We had them on both our Cyclone Toy haulers with 4 slides. Highly recommend for all the above posted reasons. We also have them on our Motorhome. Only issue we had with one of the toy haulers, was a large crosswind while crossing the bay at Horsefall actually unfolded one of the slide awnings and started flapping in the wind. Tension adjustments are important to check even when the dealer installs them!
