Depending on where you ride, sometimes there are other groups or agencies that are using Bajapit, so you need to be able to go to an unused channel.

We have ridden with others that run other frequencies....think 3 others besides Bajapits was the most.
Rugged is running a 20% off sale... I am using the small 25 and have had no problem reaching out! Just wire it as recommend direct to battery and not through the ignition circuit.
I'm looking to get the Rugged 50 watt vhf + 660 intercom. Rugged doesn't seem to have an appropriate mount for my RZR 1000 with factory roof. The tube under the roof that runs from drive side to passenger side is about 4" in front of the rear roof edge. The roof tube supports that run to the chassis are not vertical as required by the Rugged mounts. Has someone resolved this issue?

I bolted mine to the roof... You might be looking for something more custom.

I ordered the horizontal Mount along with the radio and intercom today. I'm not sure that the horizontal mount is long enough to get the antenna out from underneath my roof. I'll just build an extension. They have a great sale going on now.

Why not buy the mount that takes over the middle box under the speedo? Thats where i put my Rugged 660 and 50watt and i love it. Found here http://www.ruggedradios.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1198

I thought so also until i bought some door bags and a bed bag. The phone i used to keep in the clear window has been relocated to the windshield with a suction cup, garage door opener is in the door bag as is the P224. All other items have been moved to the glove box. Also it makes running wires so much easier having the radio in the dash, not to mention cleaner due to the fact there are no less than 10 wires running in and out of the intercom and radio. Might make for a frustrating mess if you have to run all those wires overhead.
New radio showed up , now the fun starts !!
