I lost a friend due to lithium batteries in the cargo hold of an airplane, and the company lost a 747. Remember the issues with the 787's and their batteries? Lithium. It takes a lot of water to cool them down before they stop burning or you just have to let them burn themselves out. Personally, I think I'll stay with AGM, Odyssey replacements rather than lithium batteries.

Best battery so far Die-Hard Lawn-Mower battery 5 years old and going strong

And yep lipo battery seem to light on fire to much for my liking

This is an R/C car incident. Those of us who now own drones are very familiar with the WARNING that is provided when charging up our batteries. I have not yet seen a incident involving lithium batteries in a UTV. I have one, but have yet to install it in my UTV. Maybe I can be a test dummy? :-)

This is why you wouldn't use LiPo batteries in a mobile application....They are just to unstable. I have seen charging/storage bags available and the thought crossed my mind to pick a couple up for my RC stuff.

There are plenty of other options like LiFePO4 (Shorai/Phantom) that are extremely stable. I'm looking at building one for the RV to cut 500lb weight out.

Do you mount it in its original location, or are you going to mount it under the front hood?

I plan to put it in the original location since it is the same size.

Ok thanks, can you use the terminals on both sides? That would be convenient to have. I also was looking into the battery trays for under the hood, but don't know if that would block air flow from the hood scoop to the center engine compartment.

Yes, you can use either side. There is a company that makes a nice battery tray for our model for up front, but I did not want the added weight of a battery up front. It should not restrict to much air flow. I just wanted the extra juice for running my light bars.

Lithium iron (LiFePo4) vs LiPo? I hear the lithium iron are more stable.

The other downside I have found to running the Shorai is that while CCA's are way up, Ah capacity is only about 1/4-1/3 of the AGM counterparts. I have a lot of electronics in my car and need to keep it on a tender or it's flat in a couple of days.

What is the actual Ah capacity of the WPS battery? My Shorai LF36 is only 9Ah, but it sure spins the engine up fast!
