I just had this car dropped off today, and it's a bone stock motor with a head shim which in my opinion is kind of a No-No but regardless we're pulling the motor out full build rods Pistons head studs you guys know the drill all the good stuff!!
But first I need to get the other 900 turbo out of here before I start on this one😆http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160320/9c88457d9542edb879e62e805ef8ccca.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160320/95973ed8b97a481f9497e539f229293a.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160320/d3c9ebfdb1b2ea52f5f6429260470fc2.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160320/dc33e3b40598780fe006bb47dc9b00c1.jpg

MCX blow off valve, as you can see there's no filtration for dirt entering back into the plenumhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160330/c8a7ed6dffc7651ffd95e821af813df6.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160330/025da6ace861a20b982337742a7c8628.jpg

It is pretty nasty, it looks like it's been going on for a while and finally gave up.
This problem is not just the 900 models it's also the 1000 models and all the Rangers basically all the Polaris models except for the turbo cars turbo cars have different intakes on them.
I'd recommend to everybody check your boots, because if yours tear ,this is what you're looking at

It's junk.. the rod is bent,,engine cases are damaged, cylinder is wiped out head is completely destroyed.. it went from 8000 RPMs to zero in a Split Second, that's a lot of energy transferred through out the engine

Just out of curiousity, which engine oil was he using? I also wonder if the motor was burning oil prior to this? With only ~2.5 qts and some of these RZR motors burning oil at an accellerated rate mainly due to dirt ingestion (bad intake boots or filter system) it wouldn't take long in some cases for the oil level to reach the bare minimum. It seems like the generally accepted plan is to check your oil level prior to each day's ride, and in Alba Racing's case, to not use Polaris engine oil.
What else can we learn from this besides your comment on maybe poor engine assembly (head shim)?

I don't know what type of engine oil he was using but I can find out from the owner, it didn't show any signs consuming oil that would have been evident in looking at the top of the Pistons and inside the intake and exhaust ports it would have shown evidence of that..
The 11 and 12 models have a dry sump tank and they hold a little more oil than the newer model .
I use Valvoline 10/40 with a Wix oil filter in all the cars I built and never had an issue.
The major cause of this failure was due to torn intake boots sucking in dirt dust and sand

Those torn intake boots could have caused a lean run condition that contributed to this, also. Eh?
Valvoline automotive or powersport for the additives? I switched to Maxima SynBlend 4 10W40, which is what I have used in motorcycles in the past. Napa Gold 1356 (Wix) filter. Just trying to do the right thing for my ride...

Absolutely maintenance is everything I've seen some people just put gas in their car and drive him into the ground these things aren't cheap, the more precautions you take the better off you'll be in the long run

Could be an option I've swapped in 1000 engines in 900s in the past.
