I can tell you it's not a good idea to run without a cover on your 1000, Even in sand. I just replaced my primary! If you have a XP1000 4 seat and you blow a belt, Take the shredded belt and machine to your Polaris dealer and they will give you the 2015 Clutch cover upgrade for free.

I never understood why people would leave them off.

Tim says it makes the clutch run much cooler.

I can see it running cooler but even in the sand it has to wear stuff out. Sand is sand paper with out the paper.

According to a temperature gun you will drop the temp about 60 degrees. . But obviously had its down side :(

Don't they make blower kits for the belts on the 1000's .

So I got the alba temp gauge and blowhole from zbros installed. Went riding this weekend in 70* weather and temp never got above 120. Guess will have to wait until it gets a little warmer out to see how high my temps get

I have never ran mine. No issue what so ever, but I avoid water like the plague haha

I run in the mud a lot so I don't think it would be good for me to leave the cover off .

How-ever I feel it is a factory defect. They designed the machine to run short belts

All these ways to keep belts cooler is a great idea

A lot longer belt would stay cooler and last longer as well, but that would entail a-lotta work

I put the 2015 cover on mine and still have issues with the belt getting hot. The fan sounds like a great idea.
