View Full Version : SoCal Ride March 21st - March 25th?

Jack & Jessica and Lara and I are going to the Auto Club 500 Nascar race in March. We are taking our toyhaulers and plan on riding the week after the race. Riding days would be March 21st until the 25th or 26th.
Not sure yet where we will ride, Glamis, Dumont, Ocotillo Wells, etc.
I'm leaning towards Dumont since I have never rode there, but open to anything.
Anyone interested in joining us on the ride?

I'm going to be a the race in Arizona the week before !! that is during our March madness ride , check and see where we will be !!

We will decide as soon as possible where we are going to ride Keith. Lara won't be on the ride. She is flying in for the race, then flying home after the race.
I haven't rode at Ocotillo Wells either, so having a hard time deciding.

Dumont and Ocotilla Wells are both great !!

I haven't been to Ocotillo or Dumont. Actually, Glamis is the only place I've ridden in SoCal.
Joey and I were going to ride Ocotillo after a Glamis ride but ran out of time.

when we went to Ocotillo we only did the Rock crawling and trails and it was awesome !! Dumont is more sand but still one of my favorite places . There are some good rides out of the sand area at Dumont if you know where to go !

I have followed some of the Dumont rides you guys have done. Looks like a great place to ride.
Ed took us to China Ranch date farm last time we went to Dumont and it was awsome

I think that is one of the best places to go from Dumont !!
I'm not going to say for sure , but we may be able to come to Dumont for a couple of days 21st -22nd .

Joey and I were going to ride Ocotillo after a Glamis ride but ran out of time.
Ocotillo has a lot of trails; some technical, some a little faster. Dumont is a lot of sand (maybe 5 times as much as Sand Mountain) but there are also some cool trails. The Date Farm is a cool ride, and there are several (Ed thought there were only 2, but there were actually 3) "houses" out south of the sand. If your NASCAR race is March 12, the week after that we will be in the Mojave Desert, camped at Wagon Wheel and more or less riding the Dove Springs area. Sure hope you can join us!
There were a lot of cool mines to check out on the ride to the date farm too

The race is March 19th and 20th. We will leave straight from the track and go wherever we are going to ride. Sounds like we are a week later than when you guys will be there Barry.

The week before we will be at Dove Springs !! It is a real fun place with many things to see !!
Depending on what kind of riding you want to do Dove Springs is better then the other two !! Just NO sand !!.

So many areas to explore in the SO Cal eastern side... all areas mentioned are fun areas...Glamis is my least favorite because it's all sand...There are some other dunes/ trails that we have riden north of area 51 south of Beatty NV. off of hwy95 if your coming past Dumont it's called Armagosa/ Big Dune

I agree with Ed. Lots of mines, old mining camps, Burro Schmidt Tunnel, MacGyvers Cabin...... Hope to see you there, Tim!
There so many places to go to SoCal , just depends on what kind of riding you want to do . I think Glamis is more for the big sand rails .

Vegas may make it. He just got a new truck, and if he can get it set up in time he will show up.
This is his local riding area, local knowledge would be nice, and Steve is always fun to ride with.

i will be out tonight camping with my regular crew. they will be pulling out sunday and everyone coming is welcome to join me.
Direction: take entry road from the pay station on up to the camping area stay on the road marked with white stakes. you will see the rock pile little mt on the right then a bathroom #10 on the left just ahead of that is bath #6 turn right and travel down the finger dune (you will be between 2 finger dunes i will be camped on the left side near where the finger gets tall. it is B-8 on the area map here is my phone 702 521 5318 at night i have 2 blue/white tribal whips on top of the trailer http://utvcrazy.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1682&d=1458401845&thumb=1&stc=11683
We're not going to be able to make it, been playing around long enough need to get home.
LBR and BLR won't be coming down neither...have fun!
