Just wondering your thoughts on fuels . I recently had my fuel pump die while out . People are suggesting that this likely happened from running Dyed premium gasoline. I'm not sold on this theory and just looking for opinions from others .

I have a stage 1 flash and run premium gas. No problems.

87 in the RZR.
91 (premium) in my stock quad
101LL (Av gas) in my fast quad
Whatever is close by for the ATC.

I run premium
I don't think dyed fuel would cause any problems. I only run regular gas in all our SXS's and premium in my quads .

not going to get in a pissing match so short n sweet if you run a higher octane than your eng needs your wasteing it. higher octane slows the burn down to stop detonation if your eng doesnt need it and you run it the slower burn goes out faster and isnt used up. the amount lost is very small and you most likely wouldn't feel it and it also emits more smog.... i took a class and this was proven on a dyno and emission mach. i know many of you say your eng runs cooler wile this is min this is because of the raw unburnt fuel that could cause washed out cyl... this is my one and only comment on this. as it has been proven a fact on test equipment so fight amounst yourselfs as i wont comment.

I use 91 in my Mav cause that's what it says on the sticker by the gas fill, it may be because the turbo has lower compression Pistons ?

Using the fuel that the manufacture says is the best thing to do . Using a high octane of fuel is just a waste of money !

I have been told to always run 87 octane unless the manufacture recommends 91 .

and this isnt a comment...lol again....
turbos make more cyl pressure like high comp pistons do so thats why they need more octane

I have always used regular gas but now use premium in the turbo .

This is funny topic, I really lov that guys spend 30 G on a stupid sxs and then worry about gas LMAO
I use 92 octane non ethanol in all our SxSs and all small engines...blower, generator, weedeater, pressure washer, etc.....not because of the octane, but because it is clear and easier on fuel system components.

I use 91 octane in all my vehicles .
On the new Polaris XP Turbo they put a sticker by the gas cap telling you what to use .

Had a similar sticker on the XDS.... 10 seconds with a heat gun worked wonders.

HA HA HA I don't think lance was talking about using a lower grade fuel , just that he took the sticker off !! All in all if you only need 87 octane and you run 91 it doesn't only coast the extra $1.50 per fill up bet in some cases can make you vehicle run worse than if you used the 87 octane !!

Nobody has touched on elevation affecting dynamic compression. Higher elevations have lower atmospheric pressure effectively lowering your compression. If your engine is forced inducted, this rule may not apply depending on compressor size and type.
For this reason, I run the recommended 91 octane at sea level up to 4000' and 87 above 4000'. Can Am runs an open loop fuel/spark management system that will sense and retard timing in the event of spark knock. Anyone know if Polaris do this too?

None intended and EPL knows my off beat sense of humor well...pull that sticker off to make his ride look cleaner and sleeker...
